Youth Empowerment – Learning and Innovation

Let’s give it up for our youth participants who had a blast during our Talent Tour event with Detroit Hives at the MSU-Detroit Partnership for Learning and Innovation (DPFLI) center!
šŸŽ‰ We’re so proud of the 18 engaged youth from our Career Readiness program who got to experience “A Day in the Life Of” two phenomenal Nonprofit Executives and Certified Beekeepers. šŸ
During this event, our youth learned about the educational requirements and training, day-to-day operations, and various career paths in the nonprofit, conservation, and art and design industries.
It was an amazing opportunity to celebrate Food & Agriculture month and to showcase Detroit Hives, a nonprofit organization that is making a difference in the community. By transforming vacant lots into pollinator friendly spaces in the heart of Detroit, Detroit Hives is creating sustainable communities and bee populations.
šŸŒ¼ We’re grateful for the knowledge and inspiration that Detroit Hives provided to our youth, and we can’t wait to see how they use it to make a positive impact in their own communities. šŸŒŸ

Do Not Overlook The Daily Trauma

May 27, 2020

I completely understand the sense of urgency as it relates to getting our children back in school. However, I pray in the rush to do so, we do not overlook the daily trauma their minds will endure due to wearing masks for 6 hours, social distancing from friends, no gym, eating lunch alone, daily temperature checks, etc. ā€¬
