Parents, when complimenting your childโฆ get your โbutโ out of the way!โฃ

You probably think weโre crazy ๐คช but just let us explain:โฃ

The child will focus on the last part of the sentence, and all the good you stated before will be forgotten. Yes, there are times we need to politely critique them – just donโt do that during a compliment. ๐โฃ
โฃ
If you have to give constructive criticism, use the Sandwich Method, where you lead with something positive, followed by your constructive criticism, then followed by something else thatโs positive or reiterating the initial positive statement. โฃ
โฃ
There are plenty of ways to critique or improve our children, but sometimes, itโs better to give a true compliment!โฃ
โฃ
What was the last thing you complimented your child on?๐
