Parents, Here’s A Little Secret
Parents, here’s a little secret…👀
𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥’𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘳.
Listen, we know all know it’s easier said than done, 𝘉𝘜𝘛, if you can get these two things down you’ll save yourself a lot of stress.
Just think back to your childhood, and remember all the things you did good, bad, and indifferent. What you did wasn’t to directly dishonor or disrespect your parents, you were just trying to figure things out and in the process you did some “interesting” things. The same applies for your children! 💙
One last reminder – 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯! If you’re emotional in addressing the behavior, the focus of the child goes from what needs to be adjusted, to why is mom/dad yelling at me? They will be either defensive or reclusive; and neither response gets us to where we want to be.
It can be truly difficult to separate your feelings from parenting, as we know you care about your families so much. If you are looking for some advice or guidance, please message us, or leave a comment below! ⬇️

My brothers: When we cannot receive love and affirmation from each other—we will never be able to attain the healing we so desperately desire. Brother Devon, I too allowed misconstrued masculinity hinder my expression of love for my daughter. I will never forget when she slammed her finger in my car door at 8 years old. She showed no emotion to the pain because at that time in my life, I didn’t know how to #CryLikeAMan—I just a male defined only by masculine attributes.
