We can see the side-eyes and hear the sighs now lol. ๐ซฃ Hear us out, we know they are not adults quite yet, but adolescence is the transition from childhood to adulthood.โฃ
โฃ
In treating them like responsible adults, you give them the opportunity to make lots of decisions and live with the consequences of those decisions. As parents we want to control as much as we can, but in trying to do so, we can sometimes do more damage than good. โฃ
โฃ
The more control you relinquish now, the more independence they gain now. Thatโs the self-control that they will use to make good decisions in establishing themselves as adults. ๐โฃ
โฃ
The happiest teens are responsible teens, who operate under real-world rules that inspire self-control rather than under the parental rules and control that may encourage rebellion.โฃ
