5 Tips To Help You Build A Stronger Relationship With Your Teen!

One of the most important things you can do as a parent, is build and maintain a positive relationship with your child. Teens feel strong relationship bonds when they see their parents not only love them – but also like them!
𝐒𝐨, 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝟓 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧!👇
1️⃣. 𝘈 𝘥𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘺 “𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦” – Teens feel loved and valued when we spend time with them. It’s hard to have a decent relationship with someone you rarely see!
2️⃣. 𝘈 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 – In addition to daily conversations, set aside a longer time on weekends to stay in touch and connect on a deeper level. It could be a game night or dinner together!
3️⃣. 𝘋𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘶𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 – Ask them what they enjoy doing, and go do those things together!
4️⃣. 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 – Make sure your teen feels heard, no matter what the topic is, or how you feel about it initially. Once you’ve heard them, you can share your thoughts and feelings as well.
5️⃣. 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 – Make sure we are not sacrificing our children’s future for our present concerns. Special events could include: sporting events, school assemblies, parent-teen activities, performances, etc.
