3 Mistakes To Avoid When Parenting Teens
Parents, š We have all made mistakes as parents and we will continue to make mistakes (because we are human and thatās what humans do š¤·šæāāļø). Though weāve made mistakes and will probably make moreā¦
š Here are 3 Mistakes to avoid when parenting teens:
1ļøā£ Take Things Personally – Itās important to not take what your teenager says or how they behave toward you personally. Remember during this time they are hormonal due to puberty. This doesnāt justify any inappropriate behavior or disrespect. The best course of action is to let the situation cool down and have a conversation about what happened and how it made you feel.
2ļøā£ Having Unrealistic Expectations – As parents we expect our teens to be carefree and full of life because that is what being a teenager is āsupposedā to be all about šHowever, this is an unrealistic expectation of teens. It is a realistic expectation to expect teenagers to be moody and a bit distant.
3ļøā£ Talking Too Much – Parents it cannot be said enough that listening to your teen is very powerful. When your child is a teen, it is important to listen and not try and jump in with solutions and lectures. š
Parenting teenagers can be very difficult but we hope these tips help. Do you have any mistakes parents of teens should avoid? Leave a tip or a comment below. š
